When it comes to period products…
…do you ever think about what your vagina likes?
If you’re like most women, including me, you probably just use what’s convenient…but what if your vagina doesn’t like what you use?
How do you know?
Short answer = your vagina tells you.
Here’s a condensed version of my path to knowing what products my vagina likes best.
- I stopped using tampons 5+ years ago because I want to support the downward flow and release of my blood.
- I liked the convenience of a cup (after I got used to it!), and I loved that I could collect the blood for my plants and make an offering with it, but I didn’t like getting bacterial infections every month.
- So I played with Thinx. I loved I could wear this underwear and bleed somewhat freely,
but my past two cycles I had extreme ovulation pain, which wasn’t normal for me.
I knew something was off, I had a feeling I had an infection, which can increase the sensation of ovulation because of inflammation. (that’s a lot of alliteration! )
So I called my OBGYN to let them know that ovulation “pain” is normal for me, but this was way more intense, I had acquired bacterial infections using the cup prior, is it possible I had an infection?
After just one dose of the gel prescribed, I noticed a difference.
After reading a post a woman shared about recurring yeast infections in a red moon circle group I’m in, I shared my experience and found I wasn’t alone.
A woman in there had found the same RE: bacterial infections with the same products and had since switched to organic cotton pads.
So that’s where I am now. On the first day of my last period I headed to Target and bought Organic L brand, cotton panty liners and pads.
Funny story… it had been so long since I bought pads, I only bought liners and had to buy pads with wings online! 🤦♀️
I used the liners with my Thinx my last period and it was enjoyable. Now that I have the pads, I’ll ditch my Thinx this next period and wear my normal panties with them.
point of the story: pay attention to your vagina ! 🙂
What is she telling you?
What does she need?
What does she like?
Pads, tampons, and cups are just one layer to her happiness.
And yours 🙂
To get to know her better, observe the physical changes you experience as well as the emotional and energetic ones in this cycle. What’s the same? What’s different?
Write it down. The more you become aware of your body, the more you can understand your body and the energy of your menstrual cycle, the more you know yourself and can really love, honor, and respect yourself.
Cheers to happy Vaginas everywhere!
I’m glad we got to connect today, Lovely.
